Mary Beth Rosson

Professional

I recently served as Conference Co-Chair (with Prof. M. Paloma Diaz) for VL/HCC 2010, the IEEE Symposium on Visual Languages and Human-Centric Computing. I am also a member of the Program Committee for VL/HCC 2011, which will take place in Pittsburgh PA on 18-22 September 2011.

I am on the Steering Committee of the International Symposium of End-User Development; we are organizing the third instance of the symposium, IS-EUD 2011. This coming year the conference is co-chaired by Maria Francesca Costabile and Gerhard Fischer and will take place in June 2011, in Italy. I am also on the Advisory Board of SurfNet, a strategic network project sponsored by NSERC (the Canadian analog to NSF), focused on human, software engineering, and infrastructure issues related to surface computing. Very cool stuff.

With Saul Greenberg, I am co-chair of the CHI 2011 Doctoral Consortium, which will take place in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I am also a regular mentor in the DMP program (now DREU) sponsored by CRA-W, recently hosting two terrific young women, Elizabeth Lackey from Southwestern Baptist University, and Sarah Relander from University of Minnesota.

As editorial service, I currently sit on the board for ACM Transactions on Computer-Human Interaction, International Journal of Human-Computer Studies, and Interacting with Computers.
