Service

Currently I am serving as Conference Co-Chair (with Prof. M. Paloma Diaz) for VL/HCC 2010, the IEEE Symposium on Visual Languages and Human-Centric Computing. I am also a member of the Steering Committee, and often participate as a faculty mentor for the conference’s graduate student consortium. VL/HCC 2009 will take place in Corvallis, OR on 20-24 September 2009.

On 16 October I will give the final Keynote talk at Interface Homme Machine (IHM’09) in Grenoble, France.

I will serve as a faculty panelist for the Doctoral Consortium for CSCW 2010, which will take place in Savannah, GA on 6-10 February 2010, as well as for CHI 2010, which will be in Atlanta, GA on 10-15 April 2010. I am also a regular mentor in the DMP program (now DREU) sponsored by CRA-W, this year hosting two terrific young women, Elizabeth Lackey from Southwestern Baptist University, and Sarah Relander from University of Minnesota.

As editorial service, I currently sit on the board for International Journal of Human-Computer Studies, as well as Interacting with Computers.
